Many therapies focus on reducing the impact of stressful events, but trauma based therapies are different. Therapies such as Somatic Experiencing, Neurofeedback, EMDR, Brain Spotting, and other somatic based therapies help increase one’s capacity to handle more stress.

This process is achieved by helping recognize arousal and helping a client push through the stress. When we are coached, and supported, through stimulus that was previously avoided in the social environment we disrupt homeostasis and break the pattern. We need repetition to do this.

By recognizing their implicit response to patterns and guiding an alternative experience, over time we increase capacity to cope with more stress and increase flexibility.
